How to Cure Yeast Infections – Phytochemicals

Posted by admin On September - 30 - 2008

In this very brief article we will discuss a new and exciting finding and why this treatment is so effective and/or different from any other. We will present information that has not been presented before.
To understand how to treat yeast infection it is necessary to understand the role of phytochemicals. It has long been known that some foods have an effect on the growth of yeast. Some foods we eat can generally be separated into two (2) categories: acronutrients, which include carbohydrates, proteins and lipids; and Micronutrients, vitamins and minerals.

This, though true, is incomplete. There is another class of compounds called the phytochemicals. It is these compounds that give garlic its sulphur smell and citrus its color. It is these compounds that we explored for their anti-yeast effects. A simple cup of tea can have 2 grams of 10,000 different phytochemicals.

Among various items/things, phytochemicals allow plants to defend themselves against infection. Since these plants may not run away from their attackers they have developed their own defense
systems allowing protection for themselves.
Phytochemicals have anti-fungal activity and the protective role is not limited to protecting just the plant. The same compounds can play an important part in our own defense systems.

Many of the most powerful phytochemicals are found in only a few foods. While some phytochemicals show antifungal activity, when combined together some combinations of phytochemicals produce very powerful anti-yeast activity. We found that combinations of different phytochemicals multiplied their anti-yeast properties by up to
one hundred times. When combined together the effect is much greater than the effect of the individual phytochemicals.

For example the anti-yeast effect of garlic (Diallyl sulphide) is multiplied with broccoli (Sulforaphane). We found that certain combinations of phytochemicals work well for some people and
not for others. Individual differences in the enzymes found naturally in each person’s system produce different reactions to different combinations of phytochemicals. When different people consume exactly the same food the resulting combination of phytochemicals absorbed is different. This effect explains why a treatment that worked for one person may not work for another person. And why treatment may need to be individualized.

One person may benefit from the blueberries phytochemical, Delphindin, where as another person may need the phytochemical found in tomatoes, called Lycopene. It is important to note that no one recommendation can apply to everyone. Your treatment may need to be individualized and specific phytochemicals added. Often just the addition of a single group of phytochemicals will clear a yeast infection that has resisted treatment for years.

Have you failed to have success treating your yeast infection in the past and think you have tried everything? Our discovery indicates that most people simply need to add a different class of phytochemicals to cure their yeast infection. The discovery of adding new and different classes of phytochemicals is offered no where else. Take heart. Remember that people were getting yeast infections and treating them with natural cures long before drug companies existed.

Home Spa and Body’s Adaptation. The More the Better?

Posted by admin On September - 30 - 2008

The More The Faster The Better?Or Some Words About The Body’s Adaptation.

“Change your mind
and you will change
your life”

Today we will talk about the tendency in our busy world to make more activity and procedures in one spa day to get fast results. The more the faster the better?

The word “SPA” can be translated from a Latin abbreviation for :S – salud, P- per, A-aqua, or “Health Through Water”.

You are “Your Home Spa Owner” and so should be a bit professional in spa products and their use (methods, frequency, intensity etc) to obtain Health Through Water.

Today ” You as a Home spa owner” have a “You as a client” at your Spa Home bath. Do ‘You-owner” wish “You-client” better health and well-being? Yes. Do “You-owner” want to have a long-term valued customer “You-client” at your Home Spa? Yes.

How many procedures would you apply to “You-client” today? The more the better? How many baths per week would you recommend “You-client” at home: 1,2,3 and why?

“Do I need to know this ?” you might ask. In our busy information age it could be a good advantage to have some basic knowledge about your body’s adaptation, stress definition and how your body responds to external loads to understand what you are doing, why and what results you can expect.

Being able to know when to begin and stop any activity and make a smart decision is an useful skill.

There are three main definitions in the body’s adaptation theory:

Homeostasis – a tendency of the body to maintain its internal balance.
Stressor- any activity (physical, mental and emotional) applied to the body to change this balance (homeostasis).

Adaptation- change or adjustment of the body’s functions to the needs required by activity.

Running, walking, swimming, bathing, sunbathing, bicycling etc. are examples of physical stressors.

Stressors load our body with activity (or external stimulation). Activity in sufficient quantity for your body’s condition will positively move the body away from its homeostasis. This activity leads to the body’s response and adjustment of the body’s functions to create positive health and well-being changes (so-called positive adaptation).

When the activity level is suitable for your body this activity can be named positive. Such an activity improves your health and well-being through positive adaptation. When the activity level is more than you can adjust this activity can be named negative.

The more is not always the better!

There are two types of external influences – smart influence and hard influence.

Smart influence (smart amount, smart dose, smart signal) triggers (stimulates, activates) mild positive beneficial body’s reactions without overstressing the body.

Hard influence suppresses positive body’s responses and results in body’s defense and overstraining.

Have a good and smart Home Spa bath!

Testosterone Increase Info…

A testosterone enhancer is a term used to describe products that have been shown to or are suspected to cause a testosterone increase in healthy men. There are a great many products, usually herbal, on the market that make this claim. Sometimes referred to as boosters, non-prescription testosterone enhancers are classified as dietary supplements and so are not controlled or regulated by the FDA.

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission), however, will investigate fraudulent claims and the company must be able to provide evidence to support those claims.

Eurycoma Longifolia (Longjack) is one product that is said to be a testosterone enhancer. According to one manufacturer, informal studies have shown that this product may increase free testosterone. Notice how they always say “may”. It is not just a sales trick or a way to get around the FTC.

Different herbs affect people in different ways. Prescription drugs also affect people differently. So, it is correct to say that these products “may” cause a testosterone increase, because they could, but they might not. In short, there is no guarantee.

Some manufacturers do provide a satisfaction guarantee, so you can feel somewhat safe trying their products. If they do not work for you, you can return them. If you are experiencing symptoms related to testosterone deficiency, it will probably require some trial and error on your part before you find a testosterone enhancer that works for you, the way that you want it to.

Professional athletes also use herbal products to get a testosterone increase. Tribulus Terrestris is often called a testosterone enhancer.

It has been used in China, India and Greece for hundreds of years, but more recently was evaluated by a team of Bulgarian scientists in an effort to help their Olympic team without using anabolic steroids. The team actually credits their success that year to Tribulus.

Testosterone, produced naturally by the body, is known to increase muscle strength, endurance and stamina.

The question of cost often comes up. Purchasing herbal supplements can be expensive.

Companies that seem to be selling the same product for a much lower price than their competitors may be adding chemicals to their products in order to cut costs. Chemicals are cheaper than herbs, because they can be created synthetically. Buying in bulk is not the best idea, either. Products tend to loose their efficacy sitting on a shelf.

Buy toilet paper in bulk; buy an herbal supplement or a testosterone enhancer on an as needed basis, usually a 30 day supply, to achieve the greatest testosterone increase.

Be Informed About The Medications You Take

Posted by admin On September - 30 - 2008

The recent withdrawal of the prescription drugs Vioxx and Bextra-Info.net/ Bextra have arthritis patients concerned about their health, lawyers busy with lawsuits, and Congress poring over thousands of pages of documents obtained from the manufacturer. The drugs, part of a family of medications known as COX-2 inhibitors, have recently been shown to increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes among users who take the drugs for long periods of time. These findings have more and more people starting to pay more attention to the drugs that are prescribed for them.

Many people, when ill, see their doctor and ask them to prescribe something that will make them feel better. When appropriate, their physicians will do so, and the patients typically run down to their pharmacy to get that prescription filled. They then take their medication as prescribed, usually without giving it much thought. This is probably not wise, especially in view of the recent findings with Bextra and Vioxx. Patients would be well advised to become more informed about the medications prescribed for them. Here are some things you can do to be more informed about the medicines you take:

Ask your doctor questions. Make sure he or she knows about any allergies you might have to particular medications. Ask if there is anything important you should know about the drug, its use, or its side effects.

Ask your pharmacist if there is anything you should know before taking the medication. Does it interact with other medications? Are there any known risks associated with taking that particular drug?

Read any documentation that comes with your prescription. Many pharmacies include lengthy information sheets that discuss the drug, side effects, prescribing information and more. That information is useful. Read it.

Go online and find the manufacturer’s Website. Many drug companies establish Websites devoted to particular medications. There you can find detailed information covering just about anything you’d care to know about the drug, including the results of test studies and the likelihood of particular side effects.

The Food and Drug Administration has some fairly strict standards regarding prescription medications that are brought to market. It is unlikely that any medications currently offered for sale are patently unsafe. Still, one can always benefit from staying informed. The more you know, the safer you are. If your doctor prescribes a medication for you, learn about it. It can only help.

For most pain discomfort, we reach for NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
They are very effective, but “when people take inbuprofen, aspirin, ketpprofen
or naproxen sodium, they figure since those drugs are ITC so they must be safe. As
as result they overdo them, or don’t pay attention to interactions with other
medications,” says Joseph Markenson, M.D., professor at Weill Medical College in New
York City. “While the benefits of these drugs are enormous and real, so too are the
risks of gastrointestinal upset and bleeding.

With any OTC pain reliever, start low and go slow, says Dr. Fishman. He also suggests,
“Don’t use aspirin as your first choice for pain relief. It is short acting as far
as pain goes, but long-acting in its impact on platelets and blood coagulation, and
has a greater risk of causing ulcers than ibuprofen for example”.

“You can protect yourself from ulcers related to NSAIDs,” says Dr. Markenson. take
them with an OTC or prescription proton pump inhibitor (PPI) or opt for a pure analgesic
such as acetaminophen, which offer relief from headaches, muscle aches and fever, but
does not cause bleeding.

Acetaminophen poses little threat when taken as recommended, but liver toxicity is a
risk if you drink alcohol, have liver disease or are also taking an NSAID or any
additional medication that contains aetaminophen.

Make sure you tell your pharmacist and doctor what prescription meds you take, especially phenobarbital, phenytoin (Dilantin), carbamazepine (Tegretol), rifampin (Rimactane, Rifadin), sulfinpyrazone (Anturane) and vitamin supplements.Surprised to find out that your “harmless” vitamin supplement can set off adverse reactions to medications? They can and plenty of research exists to prove that supplements can set off dangerous reactions when taken with OTC drugs.

“When it comes to decisions about pain relief”, says Dr. Fishman, “you have to think about
what makes sense for you and with individual risks and benefits. Is the pain affecting
your quality of life? Do you really need a pain reliever to stay on track every day? Can you get
rid of your headache for example some other way? Proceed cautiously with OTC drugs”.

And don’t ignore pain, ever. It is trying to tell you something. The bottom line is to
find out what the problem is and take corrective action before things get worse.

Natural Means Safe?

Posted by admin On September - 29 - 2008

A movement towards natural remedies, holistic healing, naturopathy, etc. has been growing over recent years. However, an important point has been missed through all the hoopla. Natural is not always “better.”

Many vendors sell all manner of herbs and oils, some of which can be used for medicinal purposes. So, if you wish to purchase herbs for their magickal properties, to use to burn, to put in a poppet, to make a sachet, to put in a ritual bath, or sprinkle to cleanse your space, have a marvelous time doing it. Herbs and oils can definitely be used for these purposes without much fear of harming yourself or others. Of course, you should be careful that anyone sensitive to smoke is out of the way before you burn any herb or oil, and check for allergies, but under most circumstances you’re going to be fine.

On the other hand, if you choose to use herbs or oils in ANY medicinal manner, for example, putting oils into a lotion or cream, making a tincture or tea, or otherwise using the herbs or oils inside or outside of your body, you’d better know what you’re doing. Not all plants are harmless. Remember, hemlock is natural. Poison ivy is natural. Some of the herbs and oils that are commonly sold CAN kill you.

If you decide to use any herbs or oils, inside or outside of your body, you are on your own. There is a reason some vendors don’t tell you what herbs are used for what purpose. They do not wish to be found responsible for anything that happens, good or bad, from your internal or external use of products. As you can tell from ridiculous lawsuits that are filed when people do things they shouldn’t do and then get hurt, many innocent vendors or product manufacturers find themselves out of business because they have to pay millions of dollars to nincompoops who should have known better.

Just as you would not walk into a pharmacy, buy a few random bottles of prescription medication, and take them without knowing what they are, the same precautions should be taken with herbs. Just because they are not regulated by the State, as prescription drugs are, does NOT mean they are safe.

We are not saying “don’t buy herbs or oils.” That isn’t the point at all. The point is, know what you are doing. Know what you wish to achieve. Know the actions, interactions, effects, chemical breakdowns, dosage information, etc. of the component you wish to use.

If you are really interested in therapeutic uses of herbs, there are many wonderful resources out there that you can learn from. Merely going through Google and looking up the herb name is definitely not enough. Take the time to study, or go to a certified herbologist for help. However, even a Master Herbalist is not allowed to diagnose medical conditions or to prescribe herbs or other substances for your use. Those activities are restricted to licensed physicians.

Be sure of what you are looking for BEFORE you buy. Just remember – be careful out there.

Why do we continue to support an industry that delivers no more than a 5% long-term success rate? How about because the $30 billion dollar weight loss industry is selling what we want, namely promises of instant, easy and quick weight reduction.

That reason is we expect weight loss to be like everything else in our society, namely, almost instant. While we have instant entertainment, fast food and information on the Web, our bodies are organic and physical. While all this instant delivery puts us in the mindset that losing 10 – 20 or more pounds is simply a matter of taking a pill or changing a diet temporarily, our physical nature works against that from happening.

The human body is focused on self-preservation. Serious dieting can be recognized by our body as starvation which in turn puts it into a sustained self-preservation mode. Bodies will lower their metabolism to maintain and protect existing energy reserves stored in fat. This means that a radical diet is not the way to lose weight.

So let’s try and get past the instant Society mindset and realize that losing weight is a long term goal. It took time to gain all that weight, and it will take time to lose it. More importantly, it will take a lifetime to continue to maintain a healthy weight. The one key to learn how to lose weight is to not get discouraged and realize that losing weight is not a month long effort only.

You can help yourself to lose weight by changing your lifestyle, one minor step at a time.
For example

1. Look long term. Once a diet is selected, there are times when all of us will just decide not to follow the plan. This doesn’t mean failure! Tomorrow’s a new day and another opportunity to make good food and lifestyle decisions

2. Add some activity into your daily routine. Wash the car by hand, do the vacuuming or gardening yourself. Find ways to become more active in the course of the day. This may mean taking the stairs instead of an elevator or parking farther away when going to the store. All these ideas take almost no time but it can increase activity, and that’s a good thing.

3. Stop obsessing about weight. Okay, your fat. Obsessing and worrying about some extra poundage is not going to make it go away. Everyone’s weight fluctuates on a daily basis and weighing in all the time can damage your positive outlook about losing weight. It’s easy to get discouraged when your weight goes up, because you’ve made the extra effort to drink additional water. Weigh yourself once a week, and other than that, stay off the scale

4. Learn to like water. Not for swimming or flushing or bathing but drinking. Experts agree that a healthy body needs at least 64 ounces of water a day. If you absolutely cannot handle drinking plain water, go to the supermarket to pick up food flavorings. These are small bottles of flavor usually kept in the baking aisle and can be used to flavor your water without adding calories.

Remember that the key to how to lose weight is to realize that losing weight is a long term proposition. It’s only by making those minor changes and adjustments in your routine daily can you expect to not only lose weight and keep it off permanently

LASIK Plus – Your Eye Doctor Goes Space Age

Posted by admin On September - 28 - 2008

Have you ever wondered what the acronym LASIK stands for? Well, it stands for Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomilesius, so now you know why the call it LASIK. And while most people associate LASIK with eye surgery, they are unaware that LASIK is not restricted to one particular optical procedure. There are many types of LASIK surgery.

And joining the family of LASIK procedures is LASIK Plus. Like LASIK, LASIK Plus is refractive surgery which corrects visiual defects, making eyeglasses and contacts unnecessary. And also like LASIK, LASIK Plus is available as radial keratotomy, corneal implantation, LASEK, and PRK.

So what, then, is the difference between LASIK and LASIK Plus? The “Plus” comes not at the end of the surgery, but before the surgical diagnosis is even made. LASIK Plus practitioners employ state-of-the-art machines in performing their optical examinations. Among these machines are those referred to as wavefront devices, and it is the wavefront device which elevates a LASIK procedure to the ranks of LASIK Plus.

NASA Technology
The wavefront devices originated with NASA, who developed the technology in order to correct defects in telescopic lenses. But there are far more human eyes than telescopes in the world, and with that market potential, it was inevitable that the wavefront technology would make its way into medical service.

The human eye has evolved in such a way that its cornea is subject to both upper and lower defects. LASIK diagnostic exams will locate defects of the lower cornea; but only LASIK Plus can locate the less easily found upper ones. How?

How LASIK Plus Works
The LASIK Plus procedure bounces flat light waves off the surface of the eye, so that the wavefront device can read them much in the same way that radar reads sound waves. The size of the optical defect will control the amount of light bouncing back to the wavefront machine, letting the optician know both the seriousness and type of the defect.

The information on each defect is processed through a computer diagramming program to quantify exactly what sort of optical difficulties a patient has. Because an “ideal” eye will produce a flat map, the undulations revealed by a wavefront map, and its range of colors, are indicative of an eye’s aberrations.

Thanks to LASIK Plus, many more patients are approaching their LASIK surgery with an extra boost of confidence. The pre-operative exam not only finds more defects; it can specify their nature with a high degree of accuracy. With this information, a doctor will be able to choose the best LASIK procedure for each patient, and the procedures themselves will go much more smoothly. And every aberration in an eye can be treated simultaneously, leading to a much more successful outcome.

This wonderful new LASIK Plus technology is, of course, not without its price. Eye surgeons will pass the cost of the wavefront machines along to their patients, but as the technology becomes more and more mainstream, and more patients demand it, the price of LASIK Plus surgery will drop.

Chinese Herbs

Posted by admin On September - 28 - 2008

Chinese herbs are a separate category of medicines altogether and rightfully so. They can strengthen the immune system, inhibit the growth of tumors, manage blood pressure and increase sexuality – indeed, the range is very wide. There are numerous herbs, including those that are considered common and those that are the jealously guarded secrets of traditional Chinese herbalists.

Here are some examples of Chinese herbs and what all they can be used for:

Ginseng is a commonly available root that has a flair for healing and rejuvenation. The Korean ginseng, for example, stimulates the cerebral cortex and counters exhaustion and extreme infirmity. It helps to replenish depleted energy and body fluids. It can also stimulate the sex glands and is capable of removing toxins from the body. The taste is mildly bittersweet.

The black and red Reishi mushrooms are other examples of prized Chinese herbs. They can strengthen the immune system, increase vitality of white blood corpuscles and accentuate the impact of anti-oxidants. These mushrooms also have a calming influence on the mind. They alleviate insomnia and female sexual dysfunction.

The Lotus seed is yet another indispensable Chinese herb. It tones the kidney and spleen and eases diarrhea. It stimulates appetite and has a sweet to neutral taste.

The Licorice root comes as a blessing because it can detoxify the body, invigorating and cooling it down at the same time. It acts as an analgesic and can regulate the action of other herbs. It can also be used as a natural sweetener.

Ginko biloba is a distinguished herb and arguably the oldest in traditional Chinese medicine. It has proven beneficial effects on the heart and lungs. It is used to treat coughs, asthma, and chronic allergic inflammation, and is one of the best herbal nutritional supplements available.
